The original Carisbrooke Art Block at the high school (now Carisbrooke College) was in poor condition both internally and externally. The external panelled walls and glazing allowed the classrooms to significantly overheat in the summer months. Its appearance was drab and uninspiring, needing a visual lift from our architects and surveyors on the Isle of Wight.
The renovated and extended art block was transformed by the use of significant areas of glass on the northern elevation optimising the purest light for the creation of art. A panel system was utilised on the southern elevation, allowing us to create a 'Mondrian' inspired facade which the school and the company felt was appropriate for a modern art block. All internal spaces were renovated forming a fully modernised art facility.
