ERMC architects completed the conservation, partial reconstruction and conversion of a dilapidated 'piggery' into a two bedroom holiday unit set within a smallholding, working farm. The proposals included a new oak framed living room extension, veranda and landscaped grounds.
The brief was to sympathetically extend and convert this modest structure whilst retaining its agricultural heritage and aesthetic. The original, structurally sound walling was further stabilised and re-pointed in lime mortar. New walling was constructed using only natural stone and clay bricks either salvaged from site or carefully selected to match.
