Our architects and surveyors on the Isle of Wight were instructed to complete works on St George’s Hall, built in 1907 for the Girl Guides on land adjoining the site occupied by Shanklin Primary School.
The building was of historical value and the existing structure included wrought iron tie bars and trusses to the main roof that were required to be retained and made features of where possible.
The building though structurally sound, required major refurbishment works including alterations and extension to form 2 new classrooms with cloakroom and storage facilities.
The project was a challenging one as the look and feel of the original building needed to remain, whilst upgrading to today's standards.
