Ryde School Theatre
Meeting Educational Needs
ERMC were appointed as Lead Designer on the redevelopment of the 90-year-old theatre at Ryde School with Upper Chine. The works included an extension, internal reconfiguration and refurbishment, and re-cladding to provide a more flexible education and performance space.

Following successful planning application, the school used the engaging CGI’s and videos produced by ERMC to seek charitable funding for its construction. The proposed improvements sought to make the building more appealing in appearance, increase its energy efficiency, and most importantly deliver theatre provision which would meet the educational needs of the school both now and in the future.
Improved theatre provision
Ryde School with Upper Chine had been planning to improve their theatre provision at the school for a number of years. The proposal to improve an existing building enables a significant investment in school facilities and widens opportunities for pupils in the performing arts.
The scheme involved the demolition of an existing entrance porch and the creation of a new façade with a cleaner design.
